Wine Shop

Wines selected by Leonard and the Elizabeth’s staff are available at incredible prices in the Wine Gallery. Telephone for hours of operation.

A private wine tasting with Leonard may be scheduled by serious collectors and those interested in augmenting their cellar selections with highly allocated wines not generally available in wine shops.

You will find the Wine Gallery, a showcase for wine and oil paintings, located to the right of Elizabeth’s Café entrance. Among the antique and fine furniture in the Wine Gallery is a lovely, cherry wood, freestanding temperature controlled cellar that holds a portion of the restaurant’s extensive Burgundy rouge and blanc collection. Floor-to-ceiling wine racking and half racks, line the walls. This is an area where guests who arrive early may sip Champagne relaxing in overstuffed and fine chairs while waiting for their seating

Just beyond the entrance is Elizabeth’s wine centerpiece: a walk-in, temperature and humidity-controlled wine cellar showcasing an extensive collection of wine. The uniquely designed racks permit guests to view the wine labels through a commercial store sized plate glass To the best of our knowledge this is the only cellar of its kind. The racking was specially constructed from oak planks that were milled at the restaurant during the one year construction of the cellar. The label viewing portion of the cellar houses the superior red wines - many of which have not matured enough to be placed on the wine list. Within the cellar is an additional white wine storage wall with normal cellar bottle placement. A constant temperature of 57 degrees is maintained in the cellar.

Across from the cellar is the stand-up wine bar backed by an entire wall of wine. These are wines that do not require cellaring as they are turned often throughout the year. An air-conditioned system keeps the wines at a steady 70 degrees. A chilled storage unit for cases of Champagne and white dessert wine is in the Wine Bar. Liquor is available but is not a priority.

An additional stand alone wine cellar is visible from the dining room. Some of the restaurant walls are covered by floor to ceiling wine storage in addition to four wine jails - for Champagne storage, long bottles and Port. White wines by-the-glass are stored in a separate service unit holding more than one case of each white wine offered by-the-glass in addition to Champagne, Sparkling and our still and gas water. Large format bottles are displayed above the wine bar storage and in special magnum racks in the wine gallery.

Current red wines by the glass are presented in two storage wine racks in the dining room. Glasses are poured at the table from bottles stored in the cellar so they may be poured at the appropriate temperature. All wines including by the glass offering are poured at the table with 6 ounce pours in Riedel fine crystal glasses.

Despite the fact that Elizabeth’s Café is located in a seasonal tourist area, it still sells almost 9,000 bottles of wine a year, one of the largest wine sale restaurants for its size in the world. There are approximately 1600 selections and these change weekly.
